To my wonderful brides, congratulations!

In an effort to make all things makeup go as smoothly as possible, I've provided the answers to the most common questions I get asked by brides. If you have a question that has not been answered below, please feel free to email me at champagneartistry@gmail.com.

Do you do dark, dramatic makeup?

While I can do darker, more dramatic makeup, it is not my style nor is it my favourite thing to do. I specialize in soft glam that enhances your natural face and makes you glow! You can see examples of this on my instagram page, @champagneartistry. If you’re looking for a dark / dramatic smokey eye / thick winged liner kind of vibe, I kindly recommend reaching out to another artist who specializes in dark, dramatic glam as they will probably serve you better!

Please note: while I specialize in soft glam, that still means I use a lot of makeup, however the intention is that it doesn’t appear like a ton of makeup. :)

Do you do hair?

No! Unfortunately I do not. As much as I would love to be able to provide both services, I only do makeup.

I recommend reaching out to these lovely ladies for hair! @alanaartistry, @hairby.olga!

Do you require a minimum amount of people for on location services?

I require a minimum party of 4 to receive makeup services on location.

Do you bring a second artist?

I do not bring a second artist for parties under 5 people.

Do you offer bridal trials?

Yes I do! All trials are done out of my home in La Salle (10-15 minutes outside of the south perimeter). The address will be provided before the trial.

How long does it take to complete a full face of makeup?

A full face generally takes 45 minutes. I will always schedule 45 minutes per person, however I tend to be quicker, especially for those who do not choose false lashes.

Example Wedding Morning Schedule:

8:00am-8:45am - Bridesmaid #1
8:45am-9:30am - Bridesmaid #2
9:30am-10:15am - Bridesmaid #3
10:15am-11:00am - Bridesmaid #4
11:00am-11:45am - Bride
11:45am-12:30pm - Bridesmaid #5
12:30-1:15pm - Mother of Bride (typically MOB’s do not need to be ready at the same time as the bridal party, in that case, it is recommended that they go last)

Do I need to bring my own product?

No you don’t! I provide all makeup products required for your special day. If there is a product you absolutely must have on your wedding day, feel free to bring it and I’ll be more than happy to apply it.

Important:

  • If you’re not planning to get false lashes, I recommend bringing your own mascara

  • I will apply lipstick the day of, but please note it will not last all day long. I recommend purchasing a lipstick/gloss you like to reapply the day of. If you schedule a trial with me and like the lip colour applied, I can let you know what it is so you can go out and purchase it yourself to have for the day of.

Can I get lash extensions? Do you recommend them for events & weddings?

You absolutely can! I have no problems working with lash extensions.

I’ve never worn false eyelashes, should I wear them for my wedding?

Absolutely. False lashes enhance your eyes in a beautiful way that shows up wonderfully in photos. I highly recommend false lashes!

When is the best time to schedule a trial session? What do I need to prepare for a trial session?

I recommend booking 2-3 months before your event. However a trial can be booked anytime you’d like, subject to availability.

I recommend finding a few inspo photos of makeup looks you like, along with photos of your dress, hair inspiration, etc. The more details, the better. I also highly recommend informing your artist about anything you don’t like, so they can be sure to avoid that specific look. If you have any skin sensitivities, that should be discussed during your trial.

Do I have to buy my own lipstick?

With every makeup application, lipstick is always provided. However, as lipstick is known to not last an entire day (considering you’ll be eating, drinking etc.), it is recommended to purchase your own lipstick so you can reapply it throughout the day of the event. There are 2 options to ensure the longevity of your lipstick:

Option 1: I will apply lipstick from my kit during the initial application. I have many shades of lipstick to choose from, so you will always have lipstick applied during your makeup application regardless of which option you choose, however recognizing it may not last the entire day. Please note: you do not get to keep the lipstick.

Option 2: You can bring your own shade and I will apply it for you! Then you can reapply throughout the day.

Do I need to put on any skin products before my makeup application?

I recommend washing your face as you normally would and applying your usual moisturizer. It is best to do this at least 30 minutes before your appointment.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I currently accept e-transfer and cash only.  I will send an invoice leading up to your wedding. The complete balance must be paid on or before the date of the wedding, with no exceptions. Cash or E-Transfers accepted. If any services change the day of (ie. someone decides to get lashes who had previously opted out) that additional balance will be due the day of.

On the day of my wedding / event, should I do hair or makeup first?

Generally, brides get their makeup done closest to last as possible. This will ensure that your makeup is the freshest before photos or your ceremony. Therefor, having your hair done prior to makeup often works best. However, due to timing this isn’t always the case, which is absolutely fine! It doesn’t matter to me which is done first.

Do you travel out of town for weddings?

Yes, I do! Travel within Winnipeg, Manitoba is complimentary. A mileage fee will be charged for locations outside of Winnipeg Manitoba (ie. Outside the Perimeter Hwy). Travel fees apply for all pre-event makeup trials as well as day-of appointments.
